Selfridges launches loyalty programme

Selfridges, a luxury department store chain based in the United Kingdom, has introduced a new loyalty program called Selfridges Unlocked, which utilizes a QR code and an app.

Selfridges Unlocked provides members with early access to product launches, events, news, and free shipping. Additionally, every customer purchase contributes to charitable donations, as the program aims to make a meaningful difference in the local community through a partnership with Centrepoint.

To enroll in Selfridges Unlocked, customers can choose to receive a Selfridges Key, which is a QR code that can be seamlessly added to the wallet app.

The release also mentions that customers can register for the Selfridges summer lineup, granting them exclusive access to offers across the store’s physical and digital touchpoints. These include product launches, beauty masterclasses, a swap shop, a kids’ holiday camp, early film releases, supper clubs, curated experiences in collaboration with the Manchester International Festival, and more.

Selfridges Unlocked draws inspiration from the store’s founder, Harry Gordon Selfridge, who, on the store’s opening day in 1909, offered keys to the first customers with the intention of making them feel “at home” in Selfridges. The company emphasizes that everyone is welcome and can become a Selfridges Keyholder.

Selfridges joins numerous other retailers in implementing loyalty programs to encourage customers to continue shopping. Walgreens, for example, recently announced a weeklong event for members of its myWalgreens program, offering rewards and savings on all in-store, online, and app purchases. Financial app Revolut also launched a new in-app feature called Shops, which provides instant cash back rewards on purchases from participating brands and retailers listed in the app.
