Co-op is joining Tesco and Sainsbury’s in introducing reduced prices exclusively for members of its loyalty programme.
GLOIn an attempt to keep customers and win back some who may have switched to budget competitors Aldi and Lidl, Co-op is joining Tesco and Sainsbury’s in introducing reduced prices exclusively for members of its loyalty programme. The supermarket said that its members could save up to £300 per year with these discounts, which will be focused on items such as ready meals, wines, and lunchtime meal deals. Co-op will invest an additional £15 million in May to reduce prices, bringing the total amount spent in six months to £25 million. The move follows food inflation rising to 18.2% in February 2023, the highest rate in over 45 years, with many households feeling the pinch and having to choose between buying groceries and heating their homes over winter.
