Amazon has dramatically hiked the minimum order size for free same-day grocery delivery for certain Prime customers.

Since 2020, the retail giant has offered free delivery on the same day and Click & Collect on orders worth at least £40 as a perk to Prime customers.

However, it revealed this week that the threshold will be rising sharply from next month to £60 for customers in certain areas.

Same-day orders below this threshold will be hit with a £3.99 fee, while Click & Collect will attract a £1.99 charge.

As first revealed by The Grocer, “Amazon Prime members in select cities, including Birmingham and Worthing, will from 3 February need to spend more than £60 on groceries to qualify for free same-day delivery, as well as free click & collect order pick-up.”

Amazon has said that it will email affected customers this week to inform them of the minimum order change.

If you’ve not heard from the retailer by the end of the week then you’ll be able to continue ordering free same-day delivery on groceries worth £40.
