Cathay PacificCathay Pacific has consolidated its Marco Polo Club and Asia Miles into a unified membership program. This move, announced in December alongside the introduction of the overarching ‘Cathay’ brand, aims to streamline the experience for members.
Under this new structure, Marco Polo Club points will now be referred to as Status Points, while Asia Miles will serve as the currency for earning and redeeming rewards. Customers will now be known as Cathay members.
Paul Smitton, director of customer lifestyle, emphasized the airline’s commitment to evolving with changing travel and lifestyle expectations. The aim is to enhance members’ experiences both on the ground and in the air, while retaining the essence of Cathay that customers appreciate.
To facilitate this transition, Cathay Pacific is improving its digital platform, enabling members to access various features such as their membership card, earning and redeeming Asia Miles, and staying updated on the latest offerings in one convenient location. Additionally, new members can join the program without any joining fee.
Regarding membership status, the airline has introduced a tiered structure consisting of Diamond, Gold, Silver, and Green levels. Existing Marco Polo Club Diamond, Gold, and Silver members will seamlessly transition to the corresponding Cathay status with automatic renewal through 2022. Marco Polo Club Green and Asia Miles members will become Cathay Green members.
Cathay Pacific boasts a network of over 800 partners who will provide various experiences for members, although specific travel and lifestyle offers may vary by market. These offerings will be gradually introduced to Cathay members in the coming months.
