“Providing customers with the right products and services relevant to their needs across physical and digital environments is crucial,” Stephen Eyeares, general manager of technology and strategy at 7-Eleven Australia, said. “For the customer, the experience needs to be seamless, and for our store teams, digital touchpoints need to be simple for them to activate in store; and save them time they can use to add value to our customers.”
7-Eleven Inc.7-Eleven Australia and Grabango have joined forces in a collaboration aimed at incorporating Grabango’s seamless checkout innovation into 10 stores by the conclusion of 2024. This venture will play a pivotal role in advancing the My 7-Eleven App Pay and Go 2.0, leveraging the capabilities of Grabango’s technology. In an emailed press release, 7-Eleven Asutralia announced that the “My 7-Eleven App Pay and Go” feature, offering cashierless checkout, will be rolled out to 10 stores by the end of next year.

“7-Eleven Australia is an innovative retailer who is focused on making every day easier for customers. We are excited to partner with them on 21st century retail,” said Grabango CEO Will Glaser. “Retailers like 7-Eleven are upgrading stores to provide checkout-free options as consumers demand the time savings it gives them.”
At present, the “Pay and Go” feature provides the ability to scan and pay for items. However, following the integration of Grabango’s update, customers will no longer need to individually scan each item when making a purchase. This enhanced function is accessible through the retailer’s app and also seamlessly incorporates with the retailer’s loyalty program, thereby enhancing customer loyalty.
Similar initiatives have been explored by other convenience store chains. For instance, in 2021, well-known convenience store brand Circle K initiated trials of autonomous checkout technology in collaboration with Standard AI. During the same period, travel convenience retailer Hudson started implementing Amazon’s “Just Walk Out” system.
Meanwhile, in the United Kingdom, Tesco, a prominent grocery retailer, has been experimenting with Trigo’s computer-vision checkout technology at a store situated outside of London.
For retailers, these digitalization endeavors not only provide deeper insights into consumer behavior but also lead to more robust analytics capabilities.
