National Restaurants Association of India (NRAI), the industry authority for the restaurant sector, is advising eateries to strengthen their own loyalty programmes for discounts through other apps, as food delivery and tech platform Zomato restarts its contentious Zomato Gold loyalty programme with discounts on deliveries and dining.
GLOThe National Restaurants Association of India (NRAI), an industry organisation, is advising restaurants to step up their own loyalty programmes on discounts through other apps as food delivery and tech platform Zomato restarts its contentious Zomato Gold loyalty programme with discounts on deliveries and dining.
Kabir Suri, president of NRAI, which has over 500,000 members commented: “We are still negotiating with them (Zomato Gold) on certain terms. Until that’s s not completed, our members will wait for the outcome,”
Zomato Gold, a membership programme with deals like one+one free at restaurants that was first introduced in 2017, had to be pulled from the market after restaurant partners complained that the steep discounts offered with Gold were making their operations unprofitable and had started a #LogOut campaign to remove themselves from the programme.
