GWR left Nectar on 30 March 2022. We have taken this decision as we adapt to the impact of COVID-19 on the railway and continue to evaluate our offer to deliver the best value for our customers and taxpayers.

Great Western Rail, a UK rail operator owned by First Group, announced its departure from partnership with Nectar loyalty scheme from March 30,2022.

In its email to customers, GWR commented:

“GWR left Nectar on 30 March 2022. We have taken this decision as we adapt to the impact of COVID-19 on the railway and continue to evaluate our offer to deliver the best value for our customers and taxpayers.

  • The collection of Nectar points ended on 30 March 2022. You are no longer able to collect Nectar points on your purchases through GWR.com or via our app.
  • Nectar points collected on bookings made either online or via our app up to and including 30 March 2022 will be processed within 28 days.”

COVID-19 effect on rail travel was devastating, so it is not surprising that GWR is the 2nd UK rail operator to leave Nector, after earlier in 2020 LNER, another UK rail operator left  the Nectar scheme.
