Japan Airlines is launching a new status program in 2024 that will complement the current JAL Global Club and FLY ON programs. New status points can be earned not only from travel (such as JAL Group flights and tours), but also by using everyday services (such as JALCARD spending and JAL Shopping purchases) and participating in environmentally friendly activities promoted by JAL.
Japan Airlines (JAL)
1. Introducing new status points that can be earned in everyday situations
New status points can be earned not only from travel (such as JAL Group flights and tours), but also by using everyday services (such as JALCARD spending and JAL Shopping purchases) and participating in environmentally friendly activities promoted by JAL.

2. Qualify for status rank at your own pace
New status points are used to determine your qualification for status rank. We have prepared a number of new status ranks in the new program. As you will continue to accumulate new status points over your lifetime for as long as you maintain your JMB membership, you can aim for status rank at your own pace according to your current lifestyle.

3. Quality services that make everyday life and all life stages even better
The services and benefits offered under the new program differ depending on your status rank.
Qualification for higher status ranks will allow you to enjoy more services and benefits over your lifetime, starting with Sakura Lounge visits and progressing to no expiration for miles and lifetime access to premium JAL lounges.
- More information about the program, including criteria for earning new status points and terms of use for services and benefits, will be announced on the JAL website by the end of 2023.
Customers with fewer travel opportunities

Qualify for your first status rank in a few years by earning points not only through travel but also in everyday situations, such as JALCARD spending and JAL Shopping purchases.
Customers with more travel opportunities

More use of services in everyday situations and more business and leisure travel on JAL Group flights will translate into quicker qualification for status rank.
The new program will also offer new services and benefits that are not available under the FLY ON Program.
- The illustrative example of qualifying for status rank and the associated services and benefits are shown as an example.

- As a general rule, a JALCARD credit card (CLUB-A Card, CLUB-A Gold Card, JAL Diners Card, or JAL Platinum Card) is required to enjoy services and benefits under the status program. Different requirements apply for customers living outside Japan who cannot hold a JALCARD.
- Status points are required to qualify for status rank and differ from miles in that they cannot be redeemed for awards.
- The FLY ON Program for our frequent flyers will continue to be offered. For more information, please refer to For our most frequent flyers below.
- At the launch of the new status program, your lifetime flight activity (total number of JAL international sector miles and JAL domestic flights traveled on fares eligible for earning miles since enrolling in JMB) will be converted to new status points and credited to your account.
Customers whose accounts have the required number of new status points to qualify for status rank will be able to enjoy the services and benefits of the new status program once the relevant requirements, including holding a JALCARD, are met. Qualifying members will be notified in/after January 2024. - Non-flight qualifying activity (i.e. all activity other than lifetime flight activity) will be counted from January 2024.
