Japan's top telecommunications company has opted for Oracle Database to accelerate payment processing by over 5 times and application development by 30 percent.
GLOKDDI Corporation, a leading Japanese telecommunications carrier and operator of the “au” mobile phone service, has partnered with Oracle to upgrade its online payment brand, au PAY, and customer loyalty program, au Ponta Points Program. The upgrade has resulted in a 5x increase in payment processing speed for au PAY and a 200% improvement in processing performance for au Ponta Points Program. Oracle has also enabled KDDI to develop new services and applications 30% faster to meet changing customer needs. The popularity of both services is growing rapidly in Japan, and the updated infrastructure was urgently needed to handle the increasing volume of data and transactions. KDDI chose Oracle Database for its proven reliability, scalability, and security and deployed additional Oracle products to achieve high performance, high availability, and no downtime during the migration. KDDI also chose Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) for disaster recovery and to integrate internal and external processes. Oracle Autonomous Database and OCI will be used to store transaction settlement details and analyze data.
