Swissport, the operator of Brisbane’s Aspire Lounge as well as The House lounges in Sydney and Melbourne and the Aspire Lounge in Perth, confirmed the closure, stating, "on the 31st May 2024, our Aspire Lounge in Brisbane Airport will permanently close."
GLOBrisbane Airport will lose its second international lounge this month as the Aspire Lounge closes permanently on May 31.
This closure coincides with the shutdown of Brisbane’s Plaza Premium Lounge on the same date, leaving international travelers without any pay-to-visit lounge options unless they have access to the Air New Zealand, Emirates, Qantas, or Singapore Airlines lounges.
Swissport, the operator of Brisbane’s Aspire Lounge as well as The House lounges in Sydney and Melbourne and the Aspire Lounge in Perth, confirmed the closure, stating, “on the 31st May 2024, our Aspire Lounge in Brisbane Airport will permanently close.”
Existing bookings for the Aspire Lounge are being cancelled and refunded to the original payment card within seven days. After a prolonged closure during and post-pandemic, the lounge space near Gate 77 reopened as an Aspire Lounge in 2023. Styled like a “loft apartment,” entry fees were $54 for adults and $35 for children. There’s no information yet on whether another lounge operator or airline might take over the Aspire Lounge space.
However, the Plaza Premium Lounge will eventually return in a new form. Brisbane Airport spokesperson Peter Doherty confirmed that the space will undergo renovations and re-open under a new operator. Doherty stated, “While it is sad to see the closure of the lounge in this current format, we are excited the area is about to undergo renovation. With its prime location and view of the tarmac, we’re confident that it will remain a cherished spot for travellers once it returns.”
