Vanessa Hudson, the incoming CEO of Qantas set to replace Alan Joyce in November, has revealed significant changes to the expanded leadership team at the national airline. Emphasizing a stronger focus on digital initiatives to enhance customer relationships, the company is making key appointments to lead these efforts.

Notably, the group management committee, now comprising 13 members instead of 11, does not include a representative from the marketing department. This indicates a shift in priorities towards other areas of the business.

Markus Svensson, formerly the Chief Customer Officer, has been appointed as the CEO of Qantas Domestic following the retirement of Andrew David in September.

Catriona Larritt, the executive manager of Qantas Freight, is now the Chief Customer and Digital Officer. This new role incorporates technology responsibilities, recognizing the crucial role of digital advancements in elevating customer experience.

While Petra Perry was appointed as Qantas CMO in March 2022, she is not listed as a member of the group management committee. Meanwhile, Jo Boundy, who previously held the CMO position, left Qantas in 2021 to become the CMO at the Commonwealth Bank.

Vanessa Hudson stated that these changes are geared towards enhancing focus in specific areas as Qantas transitions from a recovery phase to a phase of growth. She emphasized the significance of investing in digital solutions to further improve customer experiences. The website and app will be key platforms to empower customers with real-time information and greater control over their journeys.

The Qantas Group Management Committee as of November will consist of the following members:

  • Group CEO – Vanessa Hudson
  • General Counsel and Group Executive, Office of the CEO – Andrew Finch
  • Chief Customer and Digital Officer – Catriona Larritt
  • Chief Financial Officer – Rob Marcolina
  • Chief Corporate Affairs Officer – Andrew McGinnes
  • Chief Risk Officer – Andrew Monaghan
  • Chief Sustainability Officer – Andrew Parker
  • Qantas Domestic CEO – Markus Svensson
  • Jetstar CEO – Stephanie Tully
  • Qantas International CEO – Cam Wallace
  • Qantas Loyalty CEO – Olivia Wirth
  • Chief People Officer* – (Recruitment underway)
  • QantasLink CEO – (Recruitment underway)

These changes are intended to leverage the success of the recovery plans and ensure Qantas maintains a strong position by prioritizing the needs of customers, employees, and shareholders in the years ahead.
